What E.L. Is reading right now:

The Accidental Alchemist series by Gigi Pandian, on book four and loving her rendition of Gargoyles and their issues.

A graphic novel I just stumbled on yesterday while picking up my husband’s holds at his favorite comic book store here in Madison. It’s called Over My Dead Body by Sweeney Boo. Isn’t that an awesome author name?! Anyway I’m not into graphic novels but this one looked intriguing. It takes place in a hidden institute of witchcraft, and focuses on the trials and tribulations of student, Abigail.

What I am watching:

Watching lots of shows on various streaming platforms. Lanterns, Reacher, and Dark Winds are the newest shows. And revisiting favorites Big Bang Theory, and Closer.

Working on book three of my own series, The Autumn Grove books. This time I am combining my two worlds, Autumn Grove and The Guild series. So many characters to keep track of so I’ve been compiling a detailed list of characters. Trying to keep them all straight on paper because they socialize like mad in my head. No, I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested. (Big Bang Theory reference). I will be watching Practical Magic today in preparation of seeing the second one tomorrow with my sister and sister-in-law.

I was stuck in my writing for awhile after my two knee replacements, but I find that rereading some of my previous work really helps me get back into the groove. Makes me want to see what happens next. As I am NOT a planner or outliner in any sense of the concept, what happens in my stories comes as a complete surprise as I’m writing. While this makes it fun and exciting for me, it can also throw a monkey wrench into my writing flow. I have learned sometimes it’s best to just keep writing and eventually my characters will show me what they want to happen next. Hopefully sooner rather than later. But there are times when you just can’t rush it. After publishing two books a year for the past three years, I am cutting myself some slack here. Next book will be out in 2027.
