I’m gearing up to go to UtopiaCon with most of the Scribe Hive in Nashville, TN in June. I’ve been making bookmarks, ordering stickers, setting up a pre-order, and trying to get Book 2 of my series ready.
Part of the fun of being an independent writer is having full control of your marketing and visual representation. Aaannnd, part of the pain of being an indie writer, is bearing the full responsibility for all of that, plus writing. But I will admit, making swag is one of my favorite parts of this gig. In the past, I’ve made t-shirts and postcards, but this month I’m trying something new.
I hired a young artist–ok, my incredibly talented niece–to make character art for me. I’m going to hire her to create more character art for me for Book 2 as well. I turned these into tarot cards. I will include these in shipments I make myself, gifts, and on our table at conventions and meet-ups.
What kind of swag do you like? Bookmarks? Notebooks? Stickers? I’d love to know!
