As this is my first blog post for our Hive I will start by introducing myself. I am a retired surgical nurse living in Madison Wisconsin with my husband of 5 + 10 years. We’ve been legally married for 5 years, had a great Steampunk wedding with 90% of our guests attending in costume. It was a blast. 5 years before that we were handfasted under an ancient Willow tree by a river in a friend’s backyard. And let me tell you, getting handfasted in Wisconsin, outside in February is not for the weak. I was in a deep green velvet gown and James was in full kilted regalia. It was 9 degrees and everything was covered in freshly fallen snow that sparkled like fine gemstones. It was beautiful. And FREEZING. Our guests were wrapped up in coats and blankets. I think they much preferred the steampunk wedding that followed.

Like many writers, I’ve been telling stories since I was quite young. I made up extensive worlds and adventures for my stuffed animals to play out, then it was my troll dolls, and later Barbie and her friends. We used to get a list of spelling words for school and had to use them in a paragraph. Well, not only did I do mine, I also did the spelling assignments for a couple of friends in different grades. I loved it! And my friends loved not having to do their spelling homework.

In 2019 I decided to take one of my page-long story ideas and work on it during NaNoWriMo and ended up with just over 50,000 words. It wasn’t until a couple of years later when I signed up for a writing class, where I met my fantastic writing group. It was with their help and encouragement, along with my very patient and helpful husband, that I finally finished my very first book. I sent it off for edits and while I was waiting for it to come back, I started another one. Not sure if that was a good idea or not as I’ve been editing and re-editing both, back and forth, ever since. Just about to send that first book, MythMatched: An Autumn Grove Tale, in for formatting and cover art. SO CLOSE! Hoping to get it published through Scribe Hive in August 2023.

My aim is to get my second book, The Ghostwriter: A Story of The Guild, published on Halloween 2023. Already working on a sequel to that one called The Reliquarian: A Story of The Guild.

Thanks for reading!
