Epic Fantasy; Magical Realism

B. R. Maryse resides on a charming farm located north of Nashville, Tennessee. She takes pleasure in the tranquil rural lifestyle, spending quality time with her soon-to-be husband, Mark, as well enjoying the pets and wildlife on the property. Books and writing serve as a vital outlet for her to pursue her lifelong dreams and goals. Drawing inspiration from her farm and life experiences, she weaves captivating stories. In 2019, a transformative trip to Malta and Gozo inspired her deeply soul-filled debut novel, Isabel, Awaken. This publication is the realization of a childhood dream, representing a journey of second chances and has opened the gates for many other books to come, including the one waiting in the drawer.

Isabel Awaken, The Goddess Chronicles

B.R.’s debut novel firmly stakes her claim as a formidable author. Goddesses? Check. Heroines? Yep. Action? Check. Intrigue, excitement, romance, epic battles of the light and dark? Check, check, check… All the boxes. You’ll want to lose yourself in this one, again and again.

My Story

Books have always been my saving grace. Literary journeys and adventures with magic wielding heroines provided healthy escapism during a difficult and often dangerous childhood. Jo of “Little Women” was my all-time favorite. Jo represented a strong, independent woman who sought to be an author when only men were published. She modeled strength and determination despite oppression. But Jo wasn’t alone. Countless characters enacted rich stories that filled my imagination and taught me lessons I didn’t know I was learning.

Adult perspective grew alongside insight into the need for energetic balance. The Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine both reside in all of us. Each influence decisions everyday. When a person remains out of balance between these two strong and opposite forces, decisions get harder and harder with outcomes rarely what we expect or need.

I believe that fiction can be a beautiful and powerful tool to teach, inspire, and move our readers to healing, growth, and insight. My deepest desire is to provide the same light-post of hope and healing that I received as a child for my readers. And to create strong female heroines emanating balanced Divine Feminine and Masculine energies. My lovely farm in Tennessee is the perfect writer’s paradise: filled with love, numerous four-legged companions, and my soulmate.

Magical Beings

“Magical beings pestered me at some ancient temples and museums in Europe. They came to me to tell their story of life in another lifetime, an existence centered on love and respect for all. I created a world within a world where magic resides even in current times, and how it had to hide in plain sight. This first book is Epic /High Fantasy filled with elemental magic.”

I wrote as a child

I wrote as a child, I was a voracious reader. I read through each meal, at school in between classes. I always had a book in my hand and as a child the library granted me an adult membership so i could check out the maximum limit each visit. I read all kinds of books including history text books. I have written my memoirs but have not published them. I will eventually publish this book for its potential to help others.”

What inspires you?

“Life and the observation of people when they do not suspect they are being observed. Human behavior was my field of study in both undergraduate and graduate school. People fascinate me. Writing about them consumes me and gives me peace. I am at home writing and love it. It is hard but worth the effort.”

What have you had to learn/change to complete your book/s?

“To embrace my creative side, to open up the channels to my gifts and not be afraid to share my voice. I decided to step into my power and share it with those like me or those who need a light to open up their gifts.”

What do you love about writing?

What I love about writing is: allowing words to flow freely and transcribing them to the page opens my soul and my heart in a way in which they both sing. They sing the story to me and I get it on the page. And that I call the Flow. It truly makes the writer his or her own conduit to the other side of life.
